Kenya Electricity Generating Company Limited is engaged in generating and selling electricity to its authorized distributor, Kenya Power and Lighting Company Limited (Kenya Power). The Company is in the business of generating electricity through the development, management and operation of power plants for supplying electric power to the Kenyan market. It owns a fleet of approximately 30 power plants with a combined capacity of 1,630.95 megawatts (MW). It also holds interest in medium speed diesel and gas turbine generators across the country. It runs approximately three wind power plants in Ngong Hills, including Ngong I Phase I, Ngong I Phase II and Ngong II. Its Hydroelectric Energy power plants include Sagana, Wanjii, Masinga, Kamburu, Gitaru, Turkwel and Sondu Miriu. Its geothermal power plants include Olkaria I, Olkaria I AU, Olkaria II, Olkaria IV, Eburru and Wellhead. Its Thermal Energy power plants include Kipevu I, Kipevu III, Embakasi GT, Muhoroni GT, Garissa and Lamu.
